Scandalous, ambitious and endlessly fascinating, Lola Montez was one of the 19th century’s most celebrated courtesans and performers. Based on her unbelievable true story, trace the master of reinvention’s transformation from Irish lass Eliza James to Spanish dancer Lola Montez as she courted kings and controversies across Europe and in the goldfields of Ballarat and Bendigo.
Acclaimed soprano Nina Korbe (The Drover's Wife) embodies the legendary showgirl in a new opera by composer Joe Chindamo and writer Peter Tregear, presented in a stripped-back first look directed by Stuart Maunder and conducted by Phoebe Briggs.
